Son of El Chapo’s Guilty Plea Sparks Criticisms from Mexican President

On July 15, 2025, Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who succeeded his father Joaquin Guzman Loera (commonly known as El Chapo) as one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico, pleaded guilty in the United States (U.S.) District Court in Chicago for federal drug charges.
