U.S. and Albemarle Enter into NPA for $218 Million to Resolve FCPA Case

On September 29, 2023, the United States Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Albemarle Corporation (Albemarle) a publicly-traded specialty chemicals manufacturing company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, has agreed to enter into a Non-Prosecution Agreement and Pay more than $218 million to settle investigations into violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) arising from Albemarle’s engagement in corrupt activities to pay bribes to government officials in multiple foreign countries.
