Abstract:
Three reports have recently been issued by Congress on international narcotics.  The International Narcotics Control Report (S. HRG. 99-74) contains a report of the Hearing before the Subcommittee on Children, Family, Drugs and Alcoholism of the Committee on Labor and Human Resources, U.S. Senate on "Reviewing Ways of Using Diplomacy Against Illegal Narcotics."  Additionally, "Coordination of Drug Enforcement and Drug Prevention Efforts" (Serial No. 148) was released and contains Hearings before the Subcommittee on Crime of the Committee on the Judiciary, House of Representatives, on H.R, 3326 and H.R, 2664, held on February 17 and August 4, 1983.  The hearing concerned the matter of creating a cabinet office for coordination of the U.S. federal narcotics control program and contained a debate between Democratic Congressmen and Senators who ciritcized the Reagan Administration's lack of commitment and administrative disarray of efforts to combat international narcotics trafficking, and Administration apologists.  Lastly, "Role of Nicaragua in Drug Trafficking" (S. HRG. 99-87), a Hearing before the Subcommittee on Children, Family, Drugs and Alcoholism of the Committee on Labor and Human Resources, U.S. Senate, concerns an "Examniation of the Participation by Certain Nicaraguan Officials in Illegal International Drug Smuggling Operations" and was held on April 19, 1985.
