Senate Committee Approves Amendment on Extraterritorial Limits on Jurisdiction in Antitrust

On October 2, 1986, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the "Foreign Trade Antitrust Improvement Act of 1986" (S. 397) by a vote of 14-2.  It would require U.S. courts to consider challenges to subject matter jurisdiction early in the litigation when deciding whether to dismiss an action involving foreign trade because of jurisdictional issues.
