CWRU School of Law to Offer New Executive Master's Degree in Financial Integrity Along With the Creation of Its New Financial Integrity Institute

The Case Western Reserve University School of Law is introducing an Executive Master of Arts in Financial Integrity (MAFI) program, which will begin in the fall of 2016.  The program was created in response to demands by financial institutions and government agencies for superior compliance experts in the areas of countering money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the evasion of financial sanctions.  These demands for anti-money laundering experts come at a time when the amount of money laundered globally has been estimated to range from $800 billion to $2 trillion per year, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.  The 16-month executive program, which is directed by Professor Richard Gordon, associate director of the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center, is expected to "...fill a major need and assist both the private and public sectors in combatting money laundering and financial crime," according to John Byrne, the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists' executive vice president.  In the opinion of Professor Gordon, "some of the best practitioners and academics in the world" will teach in this new program.
