Abstract:
On September 4, 2026, Argentine judge Santiago Inchausti ordered that a painting looted by the Nazis from Dutch Jewish art collector Jacques Goudstikker must be returned to his heir, Marei von Saher. The painting, an 18th Century work by the name “Portrait of a Lady”, by Giacomo Antonio Melchiorre Ceruti, is valued at €250,000. The portrait remained in the hands of the family of Friederich Kadgien, an official in the Nazi regime who fled to Argentina after the Second World War, settling in the coastal city of Mar del Plata.
