Abstract:
After a parliamentary tug of war over several months, the Senate as the last instance approved a Government bill to severely restrict the bank and securities secrecy.  In the opinion of the Government, this law closed a significant loophole in the battle against the tax evasion which in Argentina is extremely high.  More tax justice is also expected from another bill which Parliament adopted several days ago which imposes upon high income classes a mandatory revenue program in addition to regular taxation.
