U.S. Court in Pennsylvania Orders Google to Comply with FBI Order to Produce Electronic Data

On February 3, 2017, U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas J. Rueter issued a memorandum of decision (hereafter memorandum) and order, requiring Google Inc. to disclose to agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) certain electronic data held in the accounts of targets in two separate criminal investigations. In doing so, the memorandum adopted the dissent in the appellate court’s Microsoft case.
