U.S. Court Dismisses for Sovereign Immunity “Comfort Women” Case Against Japan

On October 4, 2001, U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy, Jr. issued an opinion, dismissing a suit brought by fifteen foreign women, on behalf of themselves and other similar situated, who claim they were victims of sexual slavery and torture at the hands of the Japanese military before and during World War II.
