On December 7, 2010, U.S. District Judge John D. Bates issued an 83-page opinion dismissing a lawsuit seeking to block the U.S. government from trying to kill Anwar al-Aulaki, a U.S. citizen and Muslim cleric in hiding overseas. The U.S. has accused him of helping to plan attacks by Al Qaeda’s branch in Yemen.
