Abstract:
On June 14, 1988, Attorney General Edwin Meese ordered Joseph Patrick Thomas Doherty, a well known Irish Republic Army fugitive, deported to Britain after several unsuccessful attempts by the United States to extradite him.  Britain had previously sought unsuccessfully to have Mr. Doherty extradited because he is wanted in Britain for murder.
