THE U.K. Bribery Act 2010: An Overview

  The Bribery Act 2010 finally comes into force on July 1, 2011, having received Royal Assent on April 8, 2010.   The delay was largely attributable to concern surrounding the new offense of failing to prevent bribery by commercial organizations.2   This has now been resolved, to some extent, by the statutory Guidance3 on adequate procedures, issued on March 30, 2011, by the Ministry of Justice.                 2              Under Section 7 of the Bribery Act 2010.                   3                      The Guidance is available on the Ministry of Justice website: http://www.justice.gov.U.K./guidance/making-and-reviewing-the-law/briber....
