On February 11, 2011, upon former Egyptian President Hosni Moubarak’s resignation, the Swiss government decided to freeze, with immediate effect, all of his assets in Switzerland, as well as assets of closely connected individuals, in order to avoid any misappropriation of Egyptian government assets.
