Abstract: 
The extradition treaties involved are Paraguay, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Belize. On September 12, 2000, the U.S. Committee on Foreign Relations, U.S. Senate held a hearing on and then approved proposed criminal cooperation treaties, including mutual assistance in criminal matters, extradition, prisoner transfer, and recovery and return of stolen vehicles. The mutual assistance in criminal matters treaties (MLAT) involved including the Inter-American MLAT and Related Optional Protocol, and U.S. bilateral treaties with Nigeria, Ukraine, France, Greece, Egypt, Romania, Russia, Cyprus, and South Africa.
