In a decision released September 1, 1992, the Inter-American Juridical Committee, Organization of American States, in a vote of nine to zero with one abstention has issued an opinion that the decision by the United States Supreme Court in the case of U.S. v. Alvarez-Machain is contrary to the rules of international law.
