On June 21, 2007, Mexican federal agents arrested Mario Villanueva Madrid, the former governor of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, on a U.S. extradition warrant based on an indictment in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for drug trafficking, money laundering and racketeering.
