On August 19, 2009, the United States of America concluded an agreement with Switzerland (together with its Annex, the “UBS Agreement”) to obtain the names of 4,450 US taxpayers with accounts in UBS in return for the withdrawal of the John Doe Summons served upon UBS by the IRS on July 21, 2008.
