Abstract:

On October 3, 2013, the media reported that Hong Kong customs officials seized elephant tusks worth more than $1 million after they were discovered hidden under bags of soya in shipments from West Africa.  Officials said they found 189 tusks in three containers in an “intelligence-based” operation.[1]
