Abstract: 
On August 24, 2000, the European Union took a practical step to combat serious organized crime by establishing Eurojust, a judicial coordination unit. The goal of the initiative is to urgently strengthen judicial cooperation among EU Members, especially in combating forms of serious crimes often committed by transnational organizations.
