Abstract:
On February 1, an EC Commission proposal to unify customs regulations and introduce a coordinated
policy on penalties to ensure equality of treatment for citizens while preventing trade from deflection as a result
of disparities in rules and penalties. Already the EC Commission has begun a study on harmonizing penalties
for breaches of EC customs law.
