Abstract:
On May 13, 2009, the Court of Appeals of the State of Oregon affirmed the trial court’s judgment of conviction of Defendant, Mr. Deniz Aydiner, a Turkish citizen, for, among other things, 10 counts of aggravated murder of University of Portland student, Catherine Johnson. In his appeal, Defendant had argued that law enforcement authorities secured Defendant’s presence in the U.S. to face criminal prosecution through the use of “trickery and deceit”, thereby violating the extradition treaty between the U.S. and Turkey...(more)
