On July 23, U.S. President George Bush reiterated his promise made at the Andean (Cartagena) Summit in February to provide trade and aid assistance for the embatted Andean countries of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, so that they may shift their economies away from drug cultivation and export.
