On October 31, 2007, Mr. Martin Scheinin, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms while Countering Terrorism spoke at the American Society of International Law (ASIL) on his visit to the U.S. in May 2007 and his assessment of U.S. law and practice in the fight against terrorism.
